Shorts, Mesh
(this pattern must be quality tested.)
A band of crocheted mesh encircles each leg, the legs are roomy for comfort.
Materials:
E-hook
Lustersheen, 1 ball (or other sport weight yarn)
Pony bead that goes well with yarn color.
Large eyed needle
NOTE: This pattern is worked in rows, it worked in rounds from row 6 onwards a new look is acheived ... just be sure to eliminate the turning chains for the rows.
Beginning at waistline:
Row 1 : Ch 76 [foundation chain]; Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 73 chs, 5 sc in last ch [center should be large]; Working in unused loops of foundation ch, sc in each ch across. { 153 sc }
Row 2 : Ch 1, turn; sc in next 70 sts, leaving last 5 sts unworked. { 70 sc }
Rows 3 5 : Ch 1, turn; sc in each st across {70 sc }
Row 6 : Ch 1 turn; sc in each st, join to 1st sc being careful not to twist work.
Be careful to not sc in turning chs or you will increase when you dont want to.
Rows 7 10 : Ch 1, turn: sc in each st around, join. {70 sc }
Row 11 : ch 1, turn: (sc in next 6, 2 sc in next st) six times. Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st, join. { 80 sc }
Row 12 : ch 1, turn; sc in each st around, join.
Row 13 : ch 1, turn; (sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next) 15 times, sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st, sc in last st, join. {96 sc }
Row 14 : Rep Row 12. {96 sc}
Row 15 : Ch 1, turn; (sc in next 11 sts, 2 sc in next) seven times, sc in next 10 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st, join. {104 sc}

Crotch
Row 19a : Ch 12 [crotch chain], Skip 50 sts, sl st to next st; sl st in next st, turn; sc in each ch across; sl st to next st on shorts, turn; sc in each st across crotch; 2 sc in last sl st this side.
Leg 1
Row 19b : ch 1, do not turn: sc in each st around, join to top of 1st sc. {64 sc}
Row 20 : Ch 1, turn: sc in each st around.
Row 21 : turn (ch 3, skip 1 st, sc in next st) 32 times, ch 1, hdc in 1st ch of turn ch.
Rows 22 23 : Ch 3, turn; (sc in next ch-3 loop, ch 3) around; ch 1, hdc in 1st ch of turn ch.
Row 24 : Ch 2, turn; (sc in next ch loop, ch 2) around; ch 1, hdc in 1st ch of turn ch.
Row 25 : turn; (ch 1, sc in next loop) around; ch 1, join to top of 1st ch-1.
Row 26 29 : Ch 1, turn: sc in each st around. { 67 sc} Fasten off, use needle to hide end of yarn.
Leg 2
Row 19b: Join with sc to unused loop of crotch chain at the point where it joins the center back. Sc in each ch, work 2 sc in join to center front; sc in each st around leg hole; join to top of joining sc. {67 sc}
Rows 20 29: Rep Rows 20 29 of Leg 1. Fasten off.
Finishing
Try the shorts on your doll and find where the waist meets comfortably in the back, note where the hole falls and sew a small bead there to use for a button.
